Knock detection circuit, no activity

Fault symptom

Fault indicator lamp (for further information see WIS Fault diagnosis, general)

Poor engine torque.

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:

Continuous

Enable criteria:

Engine running.
Coolant temperature exceeds 60°C.
No fuel shut-off.
No fault on main relay (P0685, P0686 and P0687).

Fault criteria:

No pulses on the knock lead from CDM during 16 combustions.

Dependent:

No fault in the Combustion Detection Module, P1315.

System reaction to a fault:

Torque limited to max. 170Nm.

OK report:

Pulse on the knock lead from CDM during 16 combustions.

Fault handling:

Type III

Checking the wiring harness

Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.

Diagnostic help

Electrical fault in the connecting leads or in the CDM.
