Some customers and workshops have reported following experience of the
engine behaviors/symptoms in different driving situations.
Complains on some of the below described symptom/behaviors.

It is difficult to start the engine, especially in temperatures
between -5 and +5°C (23-41°F) and when the vehicle has been standing
(soaked) for several hours, the customer needs to crank vehicle for more than
10 sec to get engine running.
|

|
When the engine is started, (if a normal start or if a "long"
start), the engine sometime misfire and don’t run optimal on all cylinders,
for the first 20 sec after the engine is started. If the customer starts to
drive during those initial 20 sec, the vehicle will hesitate and jerk and
the driveability is very bad. This "early-drive" problem increase with lower
temperatures. There could also be black smoke coming from the exhaust pipe.

|
Engine combustion chamber and spark plugs could have soot built
up and ignition spark that gets weaker and weaker over time due to this soot.
There could also be soot build up on valve stem's causing sticking valves,
i.e. combustion disappear on one or more cylinders because valve does not
close completely.

•
|
Fuel consumption of those vehicles is above average.
|
|
•
|
We can also have idle vibrations in those vehicles due to too
a low idle rpm.
|
Due to the above described symptoms/behavior a new T8 "Q"-SW has been
developed, and is now released and ready to download in cars with heavy complaint,
as describe above. The SW
improves or partly improves
following
customer complaints:

Poor driveability during warm-up period

"Engine load"/shift jerk

Jerk at transition from fuel cut to acceleration

To avoid unnecessary download of the "new" SW are the SW not available
for download at the workshops on ordinary routines.
