Fuel shut off during filling of the fuel tank
Saab 9-3 SS, SC, CV with diesel engines from MY -03.
In some cars, it is hard to fill the fuel tank due to restriction in
the fuel tank ventilation hose.
Too early shut-off or spit back during fuel filling.
Check and clean the fuel ventilation hose in the fuel tank as follows:
1.
Lower the fuel tank for access.
2.
Uncover the rubber protection (1) above the ventilation hose (2)
from ventilation blue cover and clean the inside of the pipe.
3.
Make a simple tool as shown below. Bend a steel wire 500 mm long
(20 inches) in the middle. Locate a piece of cloth (cotton) in the loop (proper
size to fit inside the hose). Twist the wires.
4.
Insert and move/turn the "tool" through the ventilation hose in
to the blue cover until the hose is clean. Use a dry cloth. Do
NOT
use any liquids, cleaning agents or solvents when cleaning the
tube.
5.
Locate the rubber cover to correct position above the ventilation
hose.
6.
Reassemble the fuel tank.
