BACKGROUND |
Review of replaced AC compressors due to noise shows that the AC compressors are in many cases faultless.
CONDITIONS |
Workshop environment and AC in low fan speed.
SYMPTOM DESCRIPTION |
Excessive and growling noise can occur from AC compressor / AC system when the refrigerant level is too low in the AC loop. This can be checked by activating/deactivating compressor in engine rpm range Idle-2000.
ACTION |
Perform AC leak test in engine bay according to WIS. If no leak is found perform leak test of expansion valve also in the compartment side.
Repair the leakage. Fill up the refrigerant to specified level according to WIS.
Check the compressor sound after running the system for 5 minutes.
