Symptom: Engine may not start.
CIM Missing on Bus
Fault symptom
Engine may not start.
On-board diagnosis
Type of diagnosis:
Enable criteria:
| Ignition on for at least 3 s. |
| Battery voltage must be between 6 - 18 V. |
Fault criteria:
| No communication with CIM for 1.25 s. |
Dependent:
System reaction to a fault:
| The control module uses substitute value +20°C for outside temperature. |
OK report:
| Fault criteria NOT fulfilled for 2 s. |
Fault handling:
| Type III without Check Engine. |

Checking the wiring harness
Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.

Diagnosis regards:
