Engine oil change
| Engine oil change | 
| 1. | Open the bonnet. | |
| 2. | Raise the car. | |
| 3. | Drain the engine oil: | |
| • | Place a receptacle under the car. | 
| • | Remove the drain bolt. | 
| 4. | Remove the oil filter cartridge. | |
| • | Place a receptacle underneath. | 
| • | Use KM-726-A
        
         (83 96 301 Wrench, oil filter Z18XE)
        
        or KM-921.   | 
| 5. | Clean the sealing surfaces on the cylinder block and oil ducts. | |
| 6. | Fit the new oil filter cartridge: | |
| • | Moisten the sealing ring with engine oil. | 
| • | Tighten the oil filter cartridge. Use KM-726-A or KM-921. Tightening torque 15 Nm (11 lbf ft) | 
| 7. | Fit the engine oil drain bolt. | |
| • | Change the sealing ring. | 
| • | Tighten the bolt Tightening torque 14 Nm (10 lbf ft) | 
| 8. | Lower the car. | |
| 9. | Fill with engine oil: | |
| • | Note the prescribed engine oil volume. | 
| • | Start the engine and allow it to run until the oil pressure control display goes out. | 
| • | Check the engine oil level and top up as necessary. The engine should be warm (after 2-5 min) | 
| 10. | Reset the service interval.

| • | Acknowledge the service interval in SID. After changing engine oil, the "Remaining mileage" must be acknowledged in SID. | 
| • | Menu item: Saab 9-3 | 
| • | Car: Reset service interval | 
| 11. | Close the bonnet. | |
