Oil pan, removing and fitting



1. Open the bonnet

2. Disconnect the battery.

Remove the ground cable.

3. Raise the car

4. Drain the engine oil

Place a receptacle underneath

Open the drain screw

5. Screw in the drain screw

- Tightening torque 14 Nm

Instruction: Use a new sealing ring.

6. Detach the cable set connector for the catalytic converter control lambda sensor

Important: When removing the middle silencer, the catalytic converter, the exhaust manifold or the exhaust manifold with catalytic converter, the components of the exhaust system remaining on the car must be supported to stop them hanging. The exhaust system component with the flexible pipe can be fastened to the underbody using a suitable object, e.g. steel wire. If the flexible pipe bends 5 - 10 degrees from its intended mounting position there may be damage caused and complete failure of the flexible pipe.

7. Remove the exhaust system

Remove the front exhaust pipe - 3x Unscrew nut.


8. Remove the exhaust system

Instruction: 2 technicians needed

Undo the exhaust system - 5x Thrust ring

9. Remove the oil pan

Pull off the cable set connector for the dynamic oil level check

2x Prise loose the screw plug (1)

Gearbox - 3x Undo the bolt (2)

Oil pump - 3x Undo the bolt (arrows)

Engine block - 12x Unscrew the bolt


10. Inspect the oil pan

11. Clean the sealing service

3x Clean the sealing surface - Oil pump, engine block, oil pan

12. Clean the threads

Oil pump - 3x Clean threads

Engine block - 12x Clean threads

13. Fit the oil pan

Important: Complete the assembly work within 10 minutes

Apply sealant

12x Tighten bolt - on engine block - Tightening torque 10 Nm

3x Tighten bolt - on oil pump - Tightening torque 10 Nm

3x Tighten bolt - on gearbox - Tightening torque 40 Nm

2x Put in screw plug

Connect the cable set connector to the dynamic oil level check.


14. Put in place the exhaust system

Instruction: 2 Technicians are needed

15. Fit the exhaust system

Instruction: Change seal, change nuts

3x Tighten nut - Tightening torque 25 Nm

16. Fasten the cable set connector for the catalytic converter control lambda sensor

17. Lower the car

18. Connect the battery.

19. Fill with engine oil

Note the prescribed engine oil volume

Start the engine and allow it to run until the oil pressure control display goes out.

Check the engine oil level and top up as necessary.

20. Program erased memories

21. Close the bonnet
