       | 1. | Check engine integrity

Condition: warm engine (oil temperature >= 80°C)
         |

       | 3. | Check the coolant level.

Adjust the coolant level if necessary

Warning: the cooling system is pressurised.

       | 7. | Check engine integrity

Instruction: operating the rubber diaphragm will draw air out of the coolant equalising container. Coolant must not come with it. If the blue liquid in the top chamber of the test instrument goes yellow, then the cylinder head gasket or the cylinder head itself is leaking.

Function: the test instrument's transparent cylinder contains a blue indicator liquid that turns yellow is the air being drawn in contains the slightest amount of carbon monoxide. The liquid is regenerated when fresh air is drawn in, i.e. it turns blue again. The liquid can be tested by drawing in exhaust fumes from the exhaust pipe. The indicator liquid must then turn yellow.
