Wrong soot level (diesel)
VEHICLES CONCERNED
Saab 9-3 1.9 Diesel MY05 -
Saab 9-5 1.9 Diesel MY06-
BACKGROUND
During certain conditions the calculated soot level in the EDC 16 can be reset to a default value of 105 % full particle trap. This can later on cause problems with the automatic regeneration process for the driver.
CONDITIONS
This can happen if the battery voltage drops below 5 Volts.
SYMPTOM DESCRIPTION
The customer can get the following message in the information display "Particle trap full, see owners manual" (MY 07 ) or MIL and fault code for particle trap full on MY 05-06. The trap is not really full but the EDC 16 calculation thinks so.
ACTION
When changing or charging an empty battery, please check the stored soot value in the Engine Management System. If the value is 105 % then please make a manual regeneration before delivering the car.
If the battery proves to be OK, the original value is stored and all is OK.
