Rear exhaust manifold, 4WD

Rear exhaust manifold, 4WD

To remove

1. Remove Front catalytic converter, B284, 4WD .

2. Raise the car.

3. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield (A).

4. Lower the car.

5. Remove the intermediate exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold (B) and turbocharger (C).

6. Remove the exhaust manifold (D).

To fit

1. Clean the contact surfaces from gasket residue and soot.

2. Fit new gaskets. Coat the studs with 90 513 210 Universal paste .

3. Fit the exhaust manifold (D) using new bolts and a new gasket.

Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 lbf ft)

4. Attach the intermediate exhaust pipe to the turbocharger and the front exhaust manifold. Use a new gasket and coat the studs with 90 513 210 Universal paste . Fit all nuts.

Important

The conical side of the nut should face the centre exhaust pipe.

5. Tighten the nuts as illustrated - first on the exhaust manifold (B) and then on the turbocharger.

Tightening order (B1, B2, B3) and (C) alternatingly on the turbocharger.

Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 lbf ft)

Important

The surfaces should align with one another when the nuts are fitted. Check using a feeler gauge. If the surfaces are not flat or the pipe is deformed, the centre exhaust pipe and/or exhaust manifold must be replaced.

6. Raise the car.

7. Fit the heat shield on the exhaust manifold (A).

Tightening torque, bolts: 10 Nm (7 lbf ft)

8. Lower the car.

9. Fit Front catalytic converter B284, 4WD.
