Be particulary observant regardning cleanliness when working on the fuel system. Loss of function may occur due to very small particles. Prevent dirt and grime from entering the fuel system by cleaning the connections and plugging pipes and lines during disassembly. Use 82 92 948 Plugs, A/C system assembly. Keep components free from contaminants during storage. |

Lock the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
|
4. |
Remove the upper engine cover.
|
5. |
Remove the charge air pipe by first removing the clamps (A) and unplug the boost pressure sensor connector (B). Remove the power steering line from the clips (C).

Detach the fuel line (A) in the engine bay using
83 95 261 Fuel line tool
.

Raise the car.
|
8. |
Detach the steering shaft joint (A) from the steering gear.
|
9. |
Remove the rubber mountings (A) from the stays.
|
10. |
Remove the exhaust pipe flange (A) and relieve the load on the flexipipe with
83 95 212 Strap
.

Remove the rear torque arm bolts (A).
|
12. |
Use a column jack to relieve the load on the subframe and remove the rear bolts (A) and stays.
|
13. |
Lower the rear edge of the subframe.
|
14. |
Undo the fuel lines from their holders and the brake pipes from the front holders.
|
15. |
Remove the right-hand protective cover.
|
16. |
Place a receptacle under the car and undo the fuel line quick coupling (A) at the fuel tank.

Remove the pipe.

Fit the fuel lines in their holders.
|
2. |
Connect the fuel line (A) to the tank.
|
3. |
Fit the right-hand protective cover.
|
4. |
Raise the subframe with
83 95 311 Trolley lift
with
83 94 801 Parent fixture
and
83 96 137 Centring tool, subframe/body
.
Fit the tool to the guide holes in the body. Fit the stays and bolts (A). Tightening torque, subframe: 75 Nm + 135° (55 lbf ft +135°)Tightening torque, stay: 90 Nm + 45° (67 lbf ft +45°) |

Fit the bolts (A) holding the rear torque arms to the subframe.
Tightening torque, M10: 65 Nm (48 lbf ft), M12: 120 Nm (88 lbf ft) |

Fit the rubber mountings (A) to the stays.

7. |
Fit the exhaust pipe flange (A) and remove the strap.
Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 lbf ft)

Fit the steering shaft joint (A) to the steering gear. Clean the threads and apply
Thread locking adhesive, Loctite 242
.

Lower the car.

10. |
Connect the fuel line to the engine bay.
|
11. |
Fit the charge air pipe, clamps (A), boost pressure sensor connector (B) and power steering line to the clips (C).

12. |
Fit the upper engine cover.
|
13. |
Reconnect the negative battery cable.
|
