Topping up/changing gearbox oil B284


The gearbox has no level plug. In order to ascertain the level the gearbox must first be drained at the drain plug.


1. Undo the filler plug.

2. Raise the car.

3. Remove the filler plug.

4. Drain the oil and fit the drain plug.

Tightening torque 50 Nm (37 lbf ft)

5. Lower the car to the floor.

6. Fill with oil in accordance with Summary of lubricants and sealants. Use 87 92 822 Oil filling equipment .

FWD: 2.2 litres

AWD: 1.6 litres


7. Raise the car.

8. Fit the filler plug by hand

9. Lower the car to the floor.

10. Tighten the filler plug.

Tightening torque 45 Nm (33 lbf ft)
