Drive clutch, hydraulic pump

Removing


1. Close the soft top completely. Open the boot lid.

2. Remove the Luggage compartment side trim, CV on the right-hand side.

3. Unscrew the hydraulic unit nuts and lift the unit somewhat to access the hydraulic unit connections.

Important

Lift up the hydraulic unit carefully so that the hydraulic hoses are not damaged.



4. Unplug the pump motor connector.


5. Place some paper under the hydraulic unit to catch any hydraulic fluid that may run out.

6. Remove the pump motor bolts.

7. Remove the pump motor from the hydraulic unit.

Important

The hydraulic unit must be standing straight up with the oil reservoir at the bottom while the pump motor is being removed so that oil does not run out. It may be necessary to remove some cable ties in order to hold the oil reservoir at the bottom.


8. Remove the drive clutch from the motor.



Fitting


1. Fit the drive clutch to the motor.


2. Put the hydraulic unit pump motor in mounting position.


3. Fit the bolts for the pump motor.

4. Plug in the pump motor connector.

5. Place the hydraulic unit in mounting position. Fit the hydraulic unit nuts.


6. Fill the reservoir to MAX with fluid.

Use 89 96 860 Power steering fluid .

Important

Never use the same fluid as in the Saab 900 Cabriolet -M94


7. Open and close the soft top for 5 complete cycles to bleed the system and check its function.

8. Check for any fluid leaks.

9. Check the oil level and top up as necessary. See Checking/filling oil . Use 89 96 860 Power steering fluid .

10. Connect the diagnostics tool and erase any diagnostic trouble code.

11. Fit Luggage compartment side trim, CV .
