Position sensor, sixth bow locked, left and right (578LH/RH)

To remove

The following is a description of changing the position sensor on the left-hand side. Changing the position sensor on the right-hand side can be done in the same manner.


1. Operate the soft top half way down and secure it with the soft top support.


2. Remove the rear rail seal. Remove the seal by pulling it out of the middle of the U-shaped rail. Unhook the top part of the seal from its mounting. Leave the seal hanging.


3. Close the soft top and leave the sixth bow open. Secure with the soft top support. Open the windows.


4. Pull out the sixth bow locking strip up to the rear window on the sixth bow. Then remove outer roof edging strip from the bow up to the rear window on the sixth bow.


5. Unhook the outer roof attaching profile from the rear rail.


6. Fold up the outer roof slightly.

7. Unplug the position sensor connector. Observe the location of the cable.


8. Remove the sensor holder using a screwdriver.

9. Unhook the position sensor from the holder where appropriate.



To fit


1. Fit the position sensor to the plastic holder where appropriate.


2. Fit the position sensor plastic holder.


3. Put the position sensor cable in mounting position. Plug in the connector.

Important

Cables to hydraulic lines and position sensors must be refitted as they were earlier or there will be a risk of them being damaged when the soft top and soft top cover are operated.


4. Fold back the outer roof.

5. Hook the outer roof attaching profiles to the rear rail.


6. Fit the outer roof edging strip to the sixth bow. Fit the sixth bow locking strip.


7. Operate the soft top to half raised and secure it with the soft top support.


8. Fit the rear rail seals. Hook the top part of the seal to the mounting and then press it into the rail.


9. Test the operation of the soft top.

10. Connect the diagnostics tool and erase any diagnostic trouble code.
