Exhaust manifold, removing and fitting

To remove

1. Remove the front exhaust pipe.

2. Remove the engine cover.

3. Undo the cable set connector for the fuel regulator lambda sensor (1) and remove the cable set from the holder.

4. Remove the fuel regulator lambda sensor (4) from the exhaust manifold using KM-6129 (83 96 350 Oxygen sensor dismantling sleeve ).

5. Remove the heat shield plate (3) from the exhaust manifold.

6. Remove the engine transport bracket (5) from the exhaust manifold.

7. Remove the holder for the oil dipstick guide tube (2) from the exhaust return valve adapter and pull out the oil dipstick guide tube from the engine block.

8. Remove the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head.

To fit

1. Clean the sealing surfaces.

2. Fit the exhaust manifold together with a new seal and new retaining nuts on the cylinder head in the illustrated order - tightening torque 13 Nm + 13 Nm.

3. Push new sealing rings (1) onto the oil dipstick guide tube and moisten with silicone grease (white).

4. Insert the oil dipstick guide tube into the engine block - make sure it is fitted correctly.

5. Fit the holder for the dipstick guide tube onto the exhaust return valve adapter - tightening torque 8 Nm.

6. Fit the engine transport bracket onto the exhaust manifold - tightening torque 22 Nm.

7. Fit the heat shield plate onto the exhaust manifold - tightening torque 8 Nm.

8. Fit the fuel regulator lambda sensor into the exhaust manifold with KM-6129 or 83 96 350 Oxygen sensor dismantling sleeve - tightening torque 30 Nm.

9. Connect the cable set connector for the fuel regulation lambda sensor - fasten the cable set to the holder.

10. Fit the engine cover.

11. Fit the front exhaust pipe with a new seal and new retaining nuts.
