Radiator, removing and fitting

To remove

Warning

The cooling system is under pressure. Hot coolant and steam can escape.

- Open the cap slowly to release the pressure.

- Carelessness can cause eye and burn injuries



1. Undo the expansion tank cap and release the overpressure (A).


2. Remove the battery cover (B).

3. Raise the car, remove the lower spoiler shield

- 7 x bolts (A)


- 1 x connector (B)

4. Place a receptacle under the car, connect a hose and drain the cooling system.


5. Lower the car.

6. Remove the coolant hoses from the radiator.

- 2 x coolant hoses (A)


7. Undo the connector to the relay unit (B).

8. Remove the fan cowling bolts and remove the fan cowling from the radiator.

- 2 x bolts (C)

9. Secure with 83 95 212 Strap with the engine's lifting eye (A).


10. Fit two straps 83 95 212 over the radiator member and condenser (B).

11. Raise the car.

12. Secure the condenser with the straps (A).

13. Remove the lower support for the radiator (B).


14. Remove the radiator hose.

- 2 x bolts

15. Lower the car.


16. Remove the condenser bolts and lift the condenser from the radiator.

- 2 x bolts (A)

17. Lift away the radiator downwards.


To fit

When replacing the radiator: transfer the rubber pads over to the new radiator.


1. Fit the radiator into the condenser's lower mountings.

- 2 x rubber protector on condenser support.

2. Fit the condenser to the radiator.


- 2 x bolts (A)

3. Raise the car.


4. Lift up the radiator. Make sure that the radiator's upper rubber pads engage in their mountings. Fit the lower mountings for the radiator to the subframe (B).

Tightening torque 47 Nm (35 lbf ft)

5. Fit the lower radiator hose.

- 2 x hose clip (C)

6. Remove the straps.


7. Fit the lower spoiler shield.

- 7 x bolts (A)

- 1 x connector (B)

8. Lower the car.

9. Fit the fan cowling (C) and plug in the connector (B).


10. Fit the coolant hoses to the radiator,

- 2 x coolant hoses (A)

11. Fit the battery cover.

12. Fill with coolant. See Cooling system, filling and bleeding
