Injectors, removing and fitting

To remove


1. Open the bonnet

2. Disconnect the battery.

Remove the ground cable.

3. Remove the top engine cover

Unscrew the lid on the oil filler connection

2x Unscrew

Screw on the lid on the oil filler connection

4. Detach the intake hose (1)

Pull off the cable set connector (4) - Heating conductor-mass air flow sensor

Remove the engine ventilation hoses (2)

2x Undo the clamp - from the throttle valve module (3), air filter housing (arrow)


5. Raise the car

6. Remove the engine management system cable set at the bottom

4x Pull off the cable set connector - Lambda sensor, catalytic converter (1), oil pressure switch (2), crankshaft position sensor (3), dynamic oil level check (4)

Undo the cable set


7. Lower the car

8. Undo the camshaft sensor cable set connector

Pull off the cable set connector

9. Remove the ground cable (1)

Unscrew the nut (2) - from the generator bracket

Warning: observe safety regulations and country-specific stipulations


10. Lower the fuel pressure

Use 83 94 744 Adapter, fuel pressure gauge

Unscrew the test connector protective collar

on the fuel rail


11. Remove the fuel line

from the fuel rail

Use 83 95 261 Fuel line tool (1) Plug the line


12. Detach the engine ventilation hose

from camshaft cover

13. Remove the engine management system cable set at the top

12x Pull off the cable set connector - compressor (9), coolant temperature sensor (8), air conditioning pressure sensor (10), throttle valves actuator (1), 2x engine control module (2), knock sensor (3), combination connector (4), ignition module (6), fuel regulator lambda sensor (7)

Remove the ground cable.

Instruction: with the knock sensor cable set connector holder

Remove the cable tie

Remove the cable duct - unscrew the bolt

Put the cable set to one side


14. Remove the fuel rail

2x Undo the bolt (arrows)

Undo the cap nut

Instruction: pull out with the injectors


15. 4x Remove the injectors

4x Remove the clamp (1)

4x Pull out the injector


16. 8x Change the injector sealing ring (2)

17. 4x Fit the injector

Instruction: Moisten the sealing rings with engine oil

4x Put in the injector

Important: note the fitting position. The groove in the clamp must engage with the heel on the injector

4x Fit the clamp

18. Fit the fuel rail

Instruction: with the injectors

2x Tighten bolt - Tightening torque 8 Nm

Tighten the cap nut - tightening torque 15 Nm

19. Fit the engine management system cable set at the top

Fit the cable duct - tighten the bolt

Pull the cable set

12x Fasten the cable set connector

Fit the ground cable.

Instruction: with the knock sensor cable set connector holder

Fasten the cable tie

20. Fit the engine vent hose

21. Fit the fuel line

22. Connect the camshaft sensor cable set connector

Connect cable set connector

Fasten to the holder

23. Fit the ground cable.

Tighten the nut - Tightening torque 15 Nm

24. Raise the car

25. Fit the engine management system cable set at the bottom

Pull the cable set

4x Fasten the cable set connector

Fasten the cable set

26. Lower the car

27. Fit the intake hose

Fit the engine vent hose

Connect cable set connector

2x Fasten the clamp - tightening torque 3.5 Nm

28. Fit the top engine cover

Unscrew the lid on the oil filler connection

2x Tighten bolt

Screw on the lid on the oil filler connection

29. Connect the battery.

30. Program erased memories

31. Close the bonnet
