| 1. |
Raise the car.
|

| 2. |
Remove
Alternator, B284, 4WD (LHD)
or
Alternator, B284, 4WD, (RHD)
|
|
| 3. |
Remove
Rear catalytic converter, B284, 4WD
.
|
|
| 4. |
Unplug the oil level sensor (A) connector and remove the cable fixing (B).
|
|
| 5. |
Remove the bracket (C) between the front exhaust pipe and engine.
|
|
| 6. |
Remove the pipe holder bolt (A).
|
|
| 7. |
Guide the pipe down slightly and remove the heat shield bolts (B).
|
|
| 8. |
Move the heat shield to the left slightly.
|
|
| 9. |
Unplug the knock sensor connector (A).
|
|
| 10. |
Remove the knock sensor (B).
|
|
| To fit |
| 1. |
Fit the knock sensor (B) at the angle illustrated and tighten it to the correct torque.
Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 lbf ft) |
|
| 2. |
Plug in the connector (A).
|
|
| 3. |
Fit the heat shield bolts (B).
Tightening torque to heat shield: M6 9 Nm (6 lbf ft) M10 38 Nm (28 lbf ft)

| 4. |
Fit the pipe holder bolt (A).
Tightening torque: 38 Nm (28 lbf ft)
|
|
| 5. |
Fit the bracket (C) to the engine and front exhaust pipe.
Tightening torque to oil sump: 23 Nm (17 lbf ft) Tightening torque to exhaust pipe flange: 40 Nm (30 lbf ft)

| 6. |
Plug in the oil level sensor (A) connector and fit the cable fixing (B).
|
|
| 7. |
Fit
Rear catalytic converter, B284, 4WD
with a new gasket.
|
|
| 8. |
Fit
Alternator, B284, 4WD (LHD)
or
Alternator, B284, 4WD (RHD)
|
|
| 9. |
Lower the car.
|
