To remove |
1. |
Remove
Front catalytic converter, B284E
.

2. |
Relieve the tension on the drive belt and remove it from the generator pulley.
|
3. |
Detach the generator from the bracket and lower it slightly.
|
4. |
Raise the car.
|
5. |
Remove the heat shield of the exhaust manifold.
|
6. |
Lower the car.
|
7. |
Remove the intermediate exhaust pipe.
|
8. |
Raise the car.
|
9. |
Detach the rear secondary air pipe between the exhaust manifold and the check valve.
|
10. |
Remove the exhaust manifold.
|
To fit |
1. |
Clean the contact surfaces from gasket residue and soot.
|
2. |
Fit new gaskets. Coat the studs with
90 513 210 Universal paste
.

3. |
Fit the exhaust manifold using new bolts and a new gasket.
Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 lbf ft) |
4. |
Attach the rear secondary air pipe between the exhaust manifold and the check valve.

5. |
Lower the car.
|
6. |
Attach the intermediate exhaust pipe to the turbocharger and the front exhaust manifold. Use a new gasket and coat the studs with 90 513 210 Universal paste. Fit all nuts.

7. |
Tighten the nuts as illustrated - first on the exhaust manifold and then on the turbocharger.
Tightening order 7a, 7b, 7c and 7d alternatingly on the turbocharger. Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 lbf ft)

8. |
Raise the car.
|
9. |
Fit the heat shield on the exhaust manifold.
Tightening torque 10 Nm (7 lbf ft) |
10. |
Lower the car.
|
11. |
Fit the generator to the bracket.
|
12. |
Fit the drive belt.
|
13. |
