Location |
Antenna amplifier, radio, 5D (624RL)
Antenna amplifier, radio, 5D (624RR)
Main task |
Amplified antenna signals from antennas.
Type |
Output amplifier to strengthen a weak incoming antenna signal to a stronger signal that the infotainment head unit can use. There are two antenna amplifiers, one on each side of the car. The left-hand antenna amplifier is an FM antenna amplifier only. In the right-hand antenna amplifier, for both FM and AM, there is a switching function that works together with the radio to choose the best FM signal from FM 1 (right-hand antenna) or FM2 (left-hand antenna).
Connection |
The FM/AM antenna amplifier (624RR) on the right-hand side is supplied with a trigger voltage from pin 13 (K8B) on the main radio unit and is grounded through the bolt screwing it to the body.
The FM antenna amplifier (624RL) on the left-hand side is supplied via a coaxial cable from the FM/AM antenna amplifier (624RR) and is grounded through the bolt screwing it to the body. The coaxial cable is also used for the antenna signal from the left-hand antenna amplifier (624RL) to the right-hand antenna amplifier (624RR).
The antenna system 2 has a diversity function, which means the FM/AM antenna amplifier (624RR) on the right-hand side selects the best antenna signal.
The amplified antenna signal is fed via a coaxial cable to the antenna connector on the main radio unit.
