Battery disconnector (700)
Battery disconnector (700) |
Main task |
The battery disconnector cuts off voltage from components of the front engine harness, i.e. generator, starter motor and the front relay and fuse box relay, in the event of a head-on collision. The battery disconnector cuts off current in the areas of high temperatures and high currents.
Type |
The battery disconnector is an electromagnetic switch with limited electronics which is connected to the airbag control module and is part of the front impact protection.
A yellow button (1) can be pressed in order to reset the disconnector. A window (2) uses the colour red to indicate whether the battery disconnector has been activated.

Connection |
The disconnector is supplied B+ on pin 4 and is grounded on pin 3. It is grounded in the control module.

When the conditions of a head-on condition have been met, the airbag control module activates the disconnector by supplying B+ from control module pin 66 to battery disconnector pin 1 and grounding control module pin 67 to battery disconnector pin 2.
