Description
The main instrument unit is used to convey information to the driver by means of gauges, display information and indicator and warning lamps. The head unit receives information from other control modules via the I-bus. The control module processes the information and regulates gauges, the display, warning and indicator lamps internally (except for the Check Engine lamp, which is regulated by the engine control module (ECM) by the ECM grounding the lamp).
The gauge needles are regulated by individual stepper motors. Scales, needles, indicators and the display are illuminated by means of LEDs. The control module transmits bus information, such as button and display illumination. The head unit is equipped with its own diagnostics function and a diagnostic trouble code is generated in the event of a fault.
The main instrument unit incorporates the following:
• |
Speedometer
|
• |
Odometer/tripmeter
|
• |
Tachometer
|
• |
Fuel level gauge
|
• |
Coolant temperature gauge
|
• |
