Rumbling noise from tires
All Saab 9-3 equipped with Good Year NCT5 16"
Customer complains on rumbling noise from tires.
This type of tread pattern in combination with unfavourable tire pressure
and differing driving behaviour may contribute to the noise.
Abnormal toe-heel wear creates a rumbling noise that emanates from the
rear (non-driven) axle.
Check steering geometry and wheel alignment and tyre wear.
Moderate wear:
1.
Change wheel/tyre from rear to front.
2.
Raise the tyre pressure to 2.6 bar(38 psi).
3.
Advise customer to use this raised pressure for these tyres (Good
Year NCT5) in the future.
Heavy wear:
1.
Change to another brand of tyres.
2.
Follow the stated tyre pressure recommendations in the Owner's
Manual.
If the customer insists on using Good Year NCT5 16" or at a first-time
buy:
2.
2. Inflate tyres to 2.6 bar(38 psi).
3.
Advise customer to use this raised pressure for these tires in
the future.
