Extra Diagnosis / Information ref: P2135 FA - Pedal Position Sensor Circuit |
VEHICLES CONCERNED |
Saab 9-3 (9440).
ACTION |
Pedal Position Sensor 1 ranges between 0 – 5 V,
Pedal Position Sensor 2 ranges between 0 - 2.5 V.
The plausibility diagnosis is done as follows:
The calculation "Pedal Position Sensor 1” value – “(Pedal Position sensor 2 value multiplied by 2)"
The answer must be +/- 1.0 V when the pedal is pressed.
These values can be checked in Tech2 during driving to see if Sensor 1 or 2 that is causing the problem. (using ‘line graph’ may assist diagnosis).
Normally, there is a Pin back-out problem in H42-3 connector, H102-1 connector, Pedal Position Sensor connector or the 595K connector.
It is very seldom a fault on the Pedal Position Sensor itself that is the root cause of this fault code.
Load test |
Check the wiring harness by performing a Load Test for each cable as shown in the diagram below. Use the connector adapter tool 86 12 731 to plug into the connector. During the test you should twist and move the wiring harness in order to detect any bad connection.
Below is a diagram describing how to check a needle pin connector, such as 595K.
