Extra Diagnosis - P0106 00
|
Saab 9-3 (9440).
Diagnostic Trouble Code P0106 00 - Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor,
Performance Problem, is designed to detect two different problems by measuring
the inlet manifold pressure when the throttle is closing rapidly.
•
|
Too slow reaction on the Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (dirt
or defect in the sensor)
|
•
|
Too high pressure in the inlet manifold (air leakage problem).
|
When the throttle is closed at high engine speed, the inlet manifold
pressure should fall below 50 kpa within a certain time.
If the pressure doesn't fall enough or doesn't fall fast enough there
is a problem with the sensor or there is air leakage around the inlet manifold.
If the DTC P0106 00 is set and the failed part cannot be found by normal
fault tracing in WIS, the problem can be caused by incorrect camshaft timing.
In this case the air leakage comes from the inlet valves since they
are not closing when they should.
Air will be pushed back into the inlet manifold by the pistons and causes
the pressure in the inlet manifold to fall too slowly.
•
|
Check camshaft timing according to WIS.
|
•
|
If the camshaft timing is incorrect then this is the root cause
to the DTC.
|
•
|
Correct the camshaft timing and retest to code does not recur.
