False detection of DTC P0606 00
Saab 9-3 (9440) Trionic 8.
False detection of DTC P0606 00 - Control Module. Internal Fault may
occur due to a software problem.
Since the root cause is in the T-8-software, it will not help to change
the T-8-hardware.
There are about 10 different conditions in the ECM (hardware or software
faults) that can set DTC P0606 00. To check if DTC P0606 00 was set by a false
detection please follow the instructions below:
1.
Erase DTC's with Tech2.
2.
Test drive the car for two driving cycles, in city driving conditions,
of about 5 minutes each.
Make sure the ignition key is switched off for more than 5 seconds between
the two driving cycles.
3.
Read DTC's with Tech2 after the second driving cycle.
•
If the DTC hasn't come back, DTC P0606 00 was detected for a false
reason.
•
If the DTC has come back, there is a real fault in the ECU.
This information is issued to avoid changing the T8 ECM that will not
help to cure these conditions.
New updated T8 Software will be released at the beginning of 2004.
