Brief description, cooling system
Brief description, cooling system |
The cooling system is of positive pressure type with crossflow radiator and expansion tank and includes engine oil cooler and automatic transmission fluid cooling. Cars for the Nordic markets are equipped with parking heater.
The radial type coolant pump is integrated in the engine and located on the right-hand side of the cylinder head. The pump is driven by the crankshaft via a belt drive circuit.
The thermostat, which is a traditional wax thermostat, is located on the outlet side in a housing on the left side of the engine. The thermostat for Z19DT/DTH cannot be replaced separately. It is replaced as a thermostat housing assembly. The thermostat for Z19DTR can be replaced as a separate unit. The thermostat has an opening temperature of 88 °C (190 F) and is fully open at 103 °C (217 F). The expansion tank is located on the left side of the engine bay. The coolant expansion tank cap has an integrated safety valve that opens at 1.4 bar.
The vehicle is equipped with two electric fans located behind the radiator. These fans can operate in 4 different speeds and are controlled by ECM.
