Starter motor, Z19

/ 9-3 (9440) / 2010 / 3. Electrical System / Starting system / Adjustment/replacement / Starter motor, Z19

To remove

1.	Remove the battery cover.

2.	Disconnect the negative battery cable.

3.	Remove the upper bolts from the starter motor.

4.	Remove the bracket from the coolant pipes and wiring harness.

5.	Raise the car.

6.	Remove the lower engine cover.

7.	Detach the starter motor connecting cables.

8.	Detach the ground cable from the lower stud on the starter motor.

9.	Remove the lower stud from the starter motor.

10.	Lower the starter motor to the left through the wheel housing.

To fit

1.	Lift the starter motor into place and thread the lower stud.

2.	Lower the car.

3.	Fit the bracket to the coolant pipes and wiring harness.

4.	Fit the upper bolts to the starter motor. Tightening torque 24 Nm (18 lbf ft)

5.	Raise the car.

6.	Tighten the lower stud. Tightening torque 24 Nm (18 lbf ft)

7.	Connect the cables to the starter motor.

8.	Attach the ground cable to the lower stud.

9.	Fit the lower engine cover.

10.	Lower the car.

11.	Fit the negative battery cable.

12.	Fit the battery cover.

13.	Reset the car; see Procedures after battery disconnection .
