Gear selector adjustment – 6 speed gearbox
|
Saab 9-3 (9440) 6-speed manual gearbox.
Customer complaints regarding sticky and sometimes difficultly engaging
1st, 2nd or 3rd gears or difficulty in engaging 2nd gear especially when the
vehicle is driven from cold.

Put the gear selector lever in Neutral.
|
2.
|
Lift the selector arm on the gearbox a little and put in the locking
pin (tool) in the hole of the mechanism.
|
3.
|
Lift the leather bellow on the gearshift lever.
|
4.
|
The spring loaded sleeve has two hooks, release the hooks by using
a pair of pliers and slide the sleeve down carefully.
|
5.
|
Lift up the sleeve a bit and move the gear lever to the left towards
the 1st - 2nd gear position. The "hook" should slide down in the slot of the
gearshift lever housing into the adjustment position
|

|
Use a screwdriver and press the screwdriver blade carefully down
in the slot and bend towards the gear selector lever. You will hear a click
which confirms that the cable adjustment fastener are released / open.

Hold the gear selector lever and move it to the left and hold
it in this position, lock the adjustment fastener by pressing the screwdriver
on the (half moon) shaped part of the fastener, once again a click will be
heard = lock confirmation.

8.
|
Lift up the sleeve to it's normal position until the hooks are
locked. (see pos 4)
|
9.
|
Refit the leather bellow on the gear shift lever.
|
10.
|
Remove the locking pin from mechanism on the gearbox.
|
11.
|
Check gear selection during a test drive of the car.
