VEHICLES CONCERNED

Saab 9-3 MY11.

BACKGROUND

In some cases the EEPROM of the BCM-ECU can lose its memory.

After battery disconnect (or power lost for other reason) the settings for the module is lost.

Next ignition cycle Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) are set:

B1016 VIN not programmed

B1001 ECU performance; Vehicle configuration

B3900 No immobiliser identifier learned

B3057 No Security Code programmed

B3812 Content Theft System erratic

CONDITIONS

Battery replacement or disconnected and reconnected.

SYMPTOM DESCRIPTION

Issues with the following:


Theft Alarm

Seatbelt reminder

Alarm

Power door locks

Comfort open/close

Sport mode


ACTION


1. Disconnect battery.

2. Wait 10 seconds.

3. Reconnect battery.

4. Connect TECH2 and read out VIN number from BCM, see below.

4.1. Diagnostics

4.2. Select model year

4.3. All

4.4. ECU-information

4.5. BCM


If VIN number exists in the BCM, the vehicle is OK. No further action.

If VIN number is lost ---> Replace BCM.
