BACKGROUND

This code is generated by and stored in TCM. A large number of TCMs have been replaced without curing the root cause. The purpose of this document is to provide an appropriate strategy as how to find the root cause, which is normally found to be due to an open circuit.

CONDITIONS

Pin 8 in TCM connector 502A is a direct link from SLM (Shift Lever Module). When the gear selector lever is in ‘M’ position the TCM activates the manual gearshift mode. The SLM supply’s the following voltage in the direct link:


• Hold gear, U = 0.5 - 1.4 (V)

• Manual up shift U = 1.4 - 1.8 (V)

• Manual down shift U = 2.7 - 3.5 (V)


SYMPTOM DESCRIPTION

Check gearbox light on. The selector lever function is partial or not working at all.

ACTION

NOTE: Erase fault codes before starting the fault tracing as shown below. TECH 2 Version 108 000 or later must be used.

TCM will generate P0826-06 if there is a long or short-term disconnection to any of the pins in Connector 726. In case of a long-term disconnection the driver will observe that the gear selector is partially or totally out of function. The gear selector should then be examined.

Short-term disconnection in any of the following pins and connectors could result in generation of P0826-06.
