Handbrake cable, 4WD

To remove


1. Remove the front side piece (A) from the appropriate side of the floor console.


2. Remove the floor console's rear cover (A).


3. Remove the rear side cover (B) from the appropriate side of the floor console.

4. Release the handbrake, remove the cable ferrule (A) from the bracket and the cable (B) from the lever mechanism.


5. Remove the rear seat seat cushion .

6. Lift up the carpet and remove the cable from the mounting in the floor.


7. Raise the car.

8. Remove the protective cover (A).


9. Remove the cable from the actuating lever (A) on the wheel cylinder and from the mountings (B).

Right-hand side: Remove the wiring harness from the mounting on the tank strap and the clips from the cable.


10. Remove the rubber grommet (C) and pull out the cable.


To fit


1. Route in the cable.

2. Lower the car.

3. Route the cable correctly.

4. Raise the car.

5. Fit the cable into its mountings (B) and connect the cable to the actuating lever (A).


6. Fit the rubber grommet (C).

Note

If the rubber grommet is difficult to fit, finish fitting from inside the car when it has been lowered.


Right-hand side: Fit the wiring harness to the mounting on the tank strap and the clips to the cable.

7. Fit the protective cover (A).


8. Lower the car.

9. Fit the cable (B) to the lever mechanism and the cable ferrule (A) to the bracket.


10. Fit the cable to the bracket on the floor.


11. Check that the cable's rubber grommet in the floor is correctly fitted.

12. Put the floor carpet in place.

13. Fit the rear seat seat cushion .

14. Apply the handbrake to tension the cable.

15. Release the handbrake.

16. Check and adjust the handbrake cable .

17. Fit the floor console's rear side piece (B).


18. Fit the floor console's rear cover (A).

19. Fit the floor console's front side piece (A).
