Turn the key to LOCK or remove it whenever the car is not being used. In OFF position, the battery will discharge within a couple of hours. |

General |
This section contains our recommendations for pre-delivery service and maintenance service.
SID displays "TIME FOR SERVICE" when it is time to have the car serviced. The message appears once per day until reset. The indicator is reset in the SID menu "System settings" after completed servicing. If this is forgotten, the customer will receive a service indication the day after the servicing.
The SID menu "System settings" indicates which type of service is required. There are two types:
Intermediate service
Governed by distance travelled, remaining engine oil life and days until next intermediate service (the indicator appears once any of the parameters are met). Intermediate service is primarily an engine oil change.Main service
Governed solely by distance travelled (twice the interval of an intermediate service). Main service comprises additional work that is not carried out as often as oil changes.Both main service and intermediate service are indicated simultaneously if they coincide.
Service selection
The car's first service is an intermediate service. Ideally, the next service is a combined intermediate and main service followed by an intermediate service and so on. This pattern is interrupted if the remaining engine oil life or days until next service run out early. This occurs if the oil is consumed more quickly than usual (many cold starts, high temperature, engine load or high revs) or if the car has low annual mileage. If this occurs, intermediate servicing will be indicated twice in a row followed by a main service alone. Note that the engine oil is not changed during a main service. It is only changed during an intermediate service or a combined main and intermediate service.In the SID menu "System settings", you can see what percentage remains until next service and what type of service it is. The percent value is calculated based on distance driven, days and oil life. The need for service will be indicated when the percent value drops to 4 or less.
Note | ||
- From M07, you cannot read out remaining oil life or days to intermediate service via SID. Tech2 must be used. |
||
- It is normal for the % value in SID to be less than (sometimes considerably less than) 100 after servicing is complete and the indicator is reset. This is because there are two different types of service. If, for example, an intermediate service is carried out, the system assumes the next will be a main service, but there is not necessarily a full service interval left until then. The next service type indicated in SID can change depending on how the car is driven. |
Note | ||
If there is an aftermarket radio/navigation unit, the main instrument will have no time signal. |
||
"Days to Service" will only be based on distance and oil quality. |
Control module replacement
If replacing a control module, such as the engine control module, always "Remove" the control module using Tech2 before disconnecting it. Once the new control module has been installed and SPS programmed, "Add" the control module using Tech2. During this process, service data is read out of the old control module and is uploaded to the new one.Tech2 can also be used to do the following:
• |
Change service programme
|
• |
Read and modify service data
|
• |
Reset intermediate service in advance
|
Note | ||
Calculation of remaining oil service life presupposes the use of engine oil in accordance with Saab specifications. See Recommended oil grade . |
Service programme |
There are five different service programmes.
1. 30 000 km interval for intermediate service and 60 000 km interval for main service in European countries and for cars with diesel engine.
2. 20 000 km interval for intermediate service and 40 000 km interval for main service intended for countries not covered by the European or US/CA programme.
3. 10 000 mile interval for intermediate service and 20 000 mile interval for main service intended for USA and Canada.
4. 15 000 km interval for intermediate service and 30 000 km interval for main service intended for cars with BioPower engine.
5. 3D-service, applies to the Swedish market
The service interval is 1 year or specified distance, service must be performed whichever is reached first.
Annual service
This type of service is intended for cars that drive a small number of km per year and therefore do not reach the mileage for the normal service.Pre-delivery inspection and storage care |
The car's specification must be checked after reception. The car must also be inspected for damage. Any deviations and defects must be reported using special procedures.
See also Pre-delivery inspection and Pre-delivery inspection form .
The car must subsequently be checked and cared for during the storage time to make sure it is kept in good condition awaiting its new owner.
See also Storage care and Storage care form .
Pre-delivery service |
The customer will judge you as a business partner based on the results. This is where the first contact when handing over the car is of great importance. So pay attention to small details such as oil or dirt stains, that the correct time is set on the clock and so on.
All inspection, checking and adjustment points must be carried out conscientiously. Apart from this, unforeseeable defects may have been caused during transport and storage. These are to be regarded as repairs.
See also Pre-delivery service .
Note | ||
A service schedule must be used for all service work to ensure that the correct service points are carried out for the service type in question. Then carry out the work in accordance with the method description. |
Note | ||
The inspection of certain points and the replacement of consumable items that are subject to legal requirements should be carried out at the specified mileage only, unless they are defective beforehand. |
