High pressure fuel pump (801), E39
High pressure fuel pump (801), E39 |
Location |
High pressure fuel pump (801), E39
Located on LH side of engine bay near the fuel rail.
Main task |
Control the high pressure fuel pump for supplying fuel from the pump in the fuel tank to the fuel rail, which then distributes fuel to the injectors.
Type |
High pressure fuel pump (801) comprises a controlled mechanical single cylinder pump, driven by a cam with three lifters on the camshaft.
An integrated magnetic actuator controls the high-pressure pump inlet valve and thereby regulates the high-pressure fuel to the fuel rail.
At rest, the pump's inlet valve is held open with a spring. On activation, the magnetic actuator provides current and modulates the driving current of the ECM control module, E39 (590), so that the fuel pressure of each pump stroke is the desired.
Connection |
801 pin no. | Signal type | Description |
1 | Inspection | Connected to ECM pin 32(C). |
2 | Power supply | Connected to ECM pin 16(C). |
The fuel pump is supplied with power from the ECM control module, E39 (590), pin 16(C) and controlled with pulse width modulation (PWM) on its pin 32(C).
