To remove


In the method described below, the alternator has already been removed.


1. Remove the protective housing from the alternator.

2. Remove the voltage regulator.


The alternator brushes are fixed to the voltage regulator. The whole unit must be replaced with a new one.

To fit



1. Carefully straighten the spring tab so that it lies against the voltage regulator. Clean and apply a thin coating of Vaseline to avoid oxidation.

2. Clean the ground connection on the regulator and apply Vaseline.

3. Refit the voltage regulator.

4. Refit the protective housing on to the alternator.
