The starter motor (4) is mounted on the engine block.
To start the engine. A solenoid slides a pinion to mesh with the ring gear on the engine flywheel. When the engine starts and the engine speed exceeds the starter motor speed, the pinion disengages from its shaft via a freewheel.
Vehicles with manual gearboxes are equipped with a switch, coupling, cruise control (133) for the clutch pedal that does not allow the car to be started unless the pedal is in the depressed position.
The starter motor's (4) connection 50 is connected to the main fuse box, engine bay (342) connection 17 and obtains BATT+ via maxi fuse 31 when relay R8 (517) switches by the control module, E39 (590).
