Gear change program SPORT, A20NFT/LHU


A spring-loaded pushbutton on Switch panel (737a) makes it possible to switch between gear change programs, NORMAL, and SPORT. The switch is connected to the BCM control module (707) pin 23 and grounding point G40. The control module supplies B+ on pin 23. When the button is depressed the circuit is closed to ground and a change between the two gear change programs takes place.

BCM (707) transmits information about the current gear change program on the bus, SPORT program ON/OFF (used by MIU (540) and TCM (502)). When SPORT is selected, bus information “SPORT ON” is transmitted. In this position the shift map is changed and upshift takes place at a higher speed and downshift at a lower speed. For A20NFT/LHU the signal will be converted in SCM so that TCM is able to interpret it.

The indicator lamp SPORT is illuminated by the main instrument unit when the SPORT program is selected. If position M is selected when SPORT is selected (in position D) then the text "SPORT" is switched off in MIU. The SPORT function is always activated in position M, but is not shown with text in MIU.

SPORT can be activated in the gear positions N and D.

The NORMAL program is always engaged from the start.

The SPORT program is disengaged:


• when the switch is reactivated

• if the gear selector is moved to position P or R

• if the ignition key is turned to OFF

• in the event of limp home mode
