Compressor high and low pressure pipes

Important

The A/C receiver and the compressor oil absorb moisture from the air, which can then not be removed. Plug all connections that are opened immediately.


To remove


1. Put the car on a lift.

2. Drain the refrigerant from the A/C system, see Draining and filling the refrigerant .

3. Dismantle the upper engine cover.


4. Dismantle the PAD connection from the A/C compressor. Plug the openings.


5. Dismantle the PAD connection from the front right structural member. Plug the openings.

6. Dismantle the two-stage rivets from the bumper, use 84 71 179 removal tool, clips .


7. Raise the car.

8. Dismantle the bumper's 3 screws in the right front wheel housing.


9. Remove the lower engine cover.


10. Carefully pull out the bumper on the right hand side and then move the bumper a little forwards.


11. Lower the car.

12. Dismantle the headlamp and its connector.


13. Dismantle the fan variant's connector


14. Remove the upper PAD connection from the condenser. Plug the openings.

15. Lift out the compressor's high and low pressure pipes.



To fit


1. Adjust the oil quantity in the A/C system. See A/C system performance test .

2. Fit the upper PAD connection to the condenser.


Tightening torque 18 Nm (13 lbf ft)

3. Connect the fan variant's connector.

4. Fit the right hand headlamp and its connector.


5. Raise the car.

6. Fit the bumper on the right hand side.


7. Fit the lower engine cover.


8. Fit the bumper's 3 screws in the right front wheel housing.


9. Lower the car.

10. Fit the two-stage rivets on the bumper.


11. Replace the sealing washers and fit the PAD connection by the front right structural member.


Tightening torque 15 Nm (11 lbf ft)

12. Replace the sealing washer and fit the PAD connection to the A/C compressor.

Tightening torque 18 Nm (13 lbf ft)

13. Fit the upper engine cover.


14. Vacuum pump and fill the A/C system with refrigerant. See Draining and filling the refrigerant .

15. Check the performance of the A/C system. See A/C system performance test .
