Fault symptom

CHECK ENGINE lamp on.

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:

Once per driving cycle.

Enable criteria:

Engine temperature above 69°C.

Battery voltage must be between 11 - 16 V.

Fuel level over 10%.

Engine running longer than 60 s.

Engine speed between 1000 and 3500 rpm.

Preheating active for more than 40 s.

The ethanol content is lower than 87%.

Atmospheric pressure more than 70 kPa.

No fuel shut-off.

Closed loop lambda control active.

Air mass 10 - 50 g/s.

Fault criteria:

Lambda value changed too slowly.

OK report:

Fault criteria NOT fulfilled.

Fault handling:

Type III

Checking the wiring harness

Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.
