Warning
|
|
Do not place fingers in front of the caliper piston(s) in an attempt to catch or protect it when applying compressed air. The piston(s) can fly out with force and could result in serious bodily injury.

Warning
|
|
Use clean cloths to pad interior of caliper housing during piston removal. Use just enough air to ease the pistons out of the bores. If the pistons are blown out, even with the padding provided, it may be damaged.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Remove the brake caliper piston (1) from the caliper bore by directing low pressure compressed air into the caliper bore through the brake hose inlet port.
|
|

|
Using a small wooden or plastic tool, remove the brake caliper piston dust boot seal (1) from the brake caliper housing.
|
|
4.
|
Using a small wooden or plastic tool, remove the brake caliper piston seal (1) from the brake caliper housing.
|
|
5.
|
Remove the brake caliper bleeder valve cap (1) and bleeder valve (2).
|
|
6.
|
Clean the brake caliper piston bore with denatured alcohol, or equivalent.
|
|
7.
|
Inspect the caliper bore for cracks, scoring, pitting and excessive corrosion.
|
|
8.
|
If light corrosion is present in the caliper bore, remove the corrosion with emery cloth, or equivalent.
|
|
9.
|
If excessive corrosion exists that cannot be removed, replace the brake caliper.

Install the brake caliper bleeder valve cap (1) and bleeder valve (2) and tighten to
17 Nm (13 lb ft)

|
Lubricate the brake caliper piston seal with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container.
|
|
3.
|
Install the brake caliper piston seal (1) into the brake caliper housing groove.
|
|
4.
|
Ensure the brake caliper piston seal is properly seated in the caliper housing groove and is not distorted.
|
|
5.
|
Install the brake caliper piston dust boot seal (1) into the brake caliper housing.
|
|
6.
|
Lightly lubricate the brake caliper piston dust boot seal lip with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container.
|
|
7.
|
Lightly lubricate the brake caliper piston with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container.
|
|
8.
|
Place the brake caliper piston (1) in the brake caliper housing bore and press the brake caliper piston squarely into the brake caliper.
