Electronic Parking Brake Control Module Replacement

Removal Procedure


1. Block the rear wheels.

2. Disable the parking brake cable adjuster. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling .

3. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.

4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

5. Disconnect the electronic parking brake control module electrical connector.


6. Disconnect the parking brake intermediate cable nut (1) from the electronic parking brake control module spindle by rotating the nut counterclockwise.

7. Disconnect the parking brake intermediate cable and position the cable aside.

8. Remove the electronic parking brake control module bolts (1).


9. Remove the electronic parking brake control module assembly.

10. If removing the electronic parking brake control module bracket, remove the electronic parking bake control module bracket bolts (1).


11. Remove the electronic parking brake control module bracket (1).



Installation Procedure


1. If removed, install the electronic parking brake control module bracket (1).


2. Refer to Fastener Caution .

Install the electronic parking brake control module bracket bolts (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in) .


3. Install the electronic parking brake control module assembly.


4. Install the electronic parking brake control module bolts (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft) .

5. Inspect the O-ring seals on the electronic parking brake control module spindle and the parking brake intermediate cable to ensure that they are correctly positioned and are not damaged. Replace them if necessary.

Note

Ensure the park brake intermediate cable fitting is engaged in the actuator in the spindle.


Install the parking brake intermediate cable fitting to the spindle.

Note

When installing the parking brake intermediate cable nut to the electronic park brake module spindle, hold the spindle housing securely to avoid distorting the housing.


Install the parking brake intermediate cable nut (1) to the electronic parking brake control module spindle by rotating the nut clockwise and tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb in) .

8. Connect the electronic parking brake control module electrical connector.

9. Enable the parking brake cable adjuster. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling .

10. Calibrate the electronic parking brake control module. Refer to Electronic Parking Brake Control Module Programming and Setup .
