Checking the fuel pressure regulator, V6
Checking the fuel pressure regulator, V6 |
1. |
Remove the engine cover.
3. |
Start the fuel pump using the diagnostics tool.
4. |
Take a pressure reading on the gauge. The value should be 3.0 bar (43 psi).
5. |
Detach the pressure regulator vacuum hose. Connect the vacuum pump, part no. 30 14 883, to the connector on the pressure regulator.
6. |
Pump carefully up a positive pressure. Check that the fuel pressure increases correspondingly.
7. |
Release the positive pressure and pump up a negative pressure instead (vacuum). Check that the fuel pressure reduces correspondingly.
8. |
Release the negative pressure and remove the vacuum pump. Connect the pressure regulator vacuum hose.
9. |
Switch off the fuel pump using the diagnostics tool.
10. |
Put on the "safety catch" on the adapter and remove the pressure gauge equipment from the service nipple. Screw on the valve cap.
