P1105

Read the instructions below then start the fault diagnostic procedure.

Symptom: CHECK ENGINE. Engine speed drops slower than normal when accelerator pedal is released.

P1105

Charge Air Absolute Pressure Sensor. Hose leakage.

Fault symptoms

CHECK ENGINE.

Engine speed drops slower than normal when accelerator pedal is released.

On-Board Diagnostics

Type of diagnosis:

- Continuous. But interrupted when fault criteria fulfilled and will not restart until next driving cycle.

Enable criteria: (Conditions that must be fulfilled before the diagnosis can be performed.)

- General conditions for this trouble code: When starting the engine, the atmospheric pressure must exceed 78 kPa and the engine coolant and intake air temperatures must exceed -7°C.

- Engine running. Engine speed exceeding 1500 rpm. Intake manifold pressure exceeding a value 5 kPa lower than atmospheric pressure.

Note

This trouble code can be generated for other reasons than that the hose between the delivery pipe is defective. Refer to diagnostic help.

Fault criteria: (After enable criteria have been fulfilled, the diagnosis checks whether fault criteria are fulfilled.)

- Charge air pressure below a value 5 kPa higher than atmospheric pressure. Criteria fulfilled for more than 3 s.

Dependents: (Occasionally after fault criteria have been fulfilled, a number of other diagnostics must report OK before the trouble code can finally be generated.)

- P0106, P0107, P0108, P1106, P1107, P1108, P1631, P1632, P1633 and P1641.

System reaction to a fault: (After fault criteria have been fulfilled, certain measures will occasionally be taken.)

- Density compensation of the throttle angle is blocked.

OK report: (The diagnosis can be included as a dependent for another diagnosis and must therefore report OK even if it is continuous. The OK report is also used in fault handling to decrement the fault counter.)

- Charge air pressure exceeds atmospheric pressure at any time during the driving cycle.

Fault handling: (See “Fault diagnosis, general” for more information.)

- Type III.

Diagnostic help

Fault diagnosis concerns a leak in the hose to the sensor or between the compressor and the throttle body.

Functions in the diagnostic tool related to the fault:

Diagnostic status for the diagnosis.

Pressure sensor value, unit kPa.

During acceleration, the value should exceed the value for the two other pressure sensors.

See also the description of readings in ”Fault diagnosis, general” for more information.

This trouble code is generated if the turbocharger is unable to build up pressure when the enable criteria for the diagnosis have been fulfilled. It may be due to any of the following causes:

Defective turbocharger; e.g. open wastegate valve or jamming turbine shaft.

Major air leak between turbocharger and throttle body.

This will usually lead to poor driveability and black exhaust smoke. Even trouble codes indicating misfiring or adaptation faults may occur if there is a major air leak.

Catalytic converter or exhaust system blocked.

If the flow of exhaust gases from the turbocharger is obstructed too much, the speed of the turbine will not be high enough to provide sufficient boost pressure. This will lead to impaired engine performance and possibly misfiring, above all at high engine speeds.
