Symptom: CHECK ENGINE.

P1110

Charge Air Bypass Valve. Performance Problems.

Fault symptoms

CHECK ENGINE.

On-Board Diagnostics

Type of diagnosis:

- Continuous. However, it is interrupted once the fault criteria have been fulfilled and does not restart until the next driving cycle.

Enable criteria: (Conditions that must be fulfilled for diagnostics to be performed.)

- Global conditions for this diagnostic trouble code: When starting the engine, the atmospheric pressure must exceed 78 kPa and the temperature of the coolant and the intake air must exceed -7°C.

- Main relay voltage exceeding 10V. Engine speed above 3500 rpm. Intake pressure rapidly drops more than 3 kPa, after which the accelerator pedal is fully released. Charge air pressure exceeding 120 kPa. The bypass solenoid has been deactivated.

Fault criteria: (When enable criteria have been fulfilled, diagnostics will check if the fault criteria have been fulfilled.)

- Charge air pressure pulsating at 14-18 Hz with an amplitude exceeding 3 kPa. The criteria must be fulfilled on two separate occasions within 600s during the same driving cycle.

Dependents: (Once fault criteria have been fulfilled, a number of other diagnostics must report OK before the diagnostic trouble code can finally be generated.)

- P0106, P0107, P0108, P1105, P1106, P1107, P1108, P1530, P1531, P1532, P1631, P1632 and P1633.

System reaction to a fault: (Once the fault criteria have been fulfilled, certain measures will sometimes be taken.)

- None.

OK report: (This diagnosis may be included as a dependent to another diagnosis and must therefore report OK even if it is continuous. The OK report is also used in fault handling to count down the fault counter.)

- Enable criteria fulfilled and amplitude below 1 kPa. The criteria must be fulfilled on three consecutive occasions during the same driving cycle.

Fault handling: (Refer to section “Fault diagnosis, general” for more information.)

- Type III.

Diagnostic help

Fault diagnosis concerns a fault in the connecting control hoses, in the solenoid valve or in the bypass valve.

Diagnostic tool functions related to this fault:

Diagnostic status for the diagnosis.

Activation of the output for the solenoid valve that controls the bypass valve.

Refer also to the description of activations under ”Fault diagnosis, general” for more information.
