Conditions

The following conditions apply for the fault symptom concerned:


• No diagnostic trouble codes for a car with this symptom description.

• Petrol in the tank.

• Starter motor working.


Diagnostic help

Most of the functions that can prevent the car from starting are monitored by self-diagnosis and generated diagnostic trouble codes if they are defective. Fault diagnosis therefore concerns faults that can prevent the car from starting and which are not monitored.

First, check that the fuel pump is working and is delivering pressure. Then, check the ignition discharge module and spark plugs.

Diagnostic tool functions related to this fault:


• Activation of the fuel pump relay.

• Activation of the ignition triggers.

Check the wiring

Jiggle the wiring harness at several points and in different directions to check if there are intermittent breaks and short-circuits in the leads. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic instrument during the test.
