Cruise control, pedal switches squeaking




Cars affected

Saab 9-5 M98 RHD from VIN W3050321 to W3059267 inclusive.

Background

A squeaking may be heard from the brake and/or clutch pedal on the affected cars with cruise control. This can be due to deficient lubrication of the pedal switch pushrod.

The problem has been rectified in production from VIN W3059268.

After customer complaint, rectify the problem as directed on the following page.

Procedure



1. Remove the pedal bracket cover by undoing the 3 screws and the clip. Tilt down the cover and pull carefully outwards. Watch out for the cables to the data link connector for the diagnostic tool and the lighting.

2. Clutch pedal


Depress the clutch pedal. Pull out the pushrod and apply Gleitmo 815. Release the pedal and pull it back so that the pushrod on the pedal switch takes its correct position.

3. Make sure the squeak is no longer present by pressing up and down on the pedal.

4. Brake pedal

Depress the brake pedal. Pull out the pushrod (green connector) and apply Gleitmo 815. Release the pedal and pull it back so that the pushrod on the pedal switch takes its correct position.

5. Make sure the squeak is no longer present by pressing up and down on the pedal.

6. Fit the cover under the steering wheel.
