If a safety-related fault develops in the throttle control system, the throttle body will go into limp-home mode and the CHECK ENGINE lamp will come on immediately.
When the fault has been rectified, first clear the diagnostic trouble code and then reset the limp-home mechanism.
Fault procedure, other components and functions |
A diagnostic trouble code will be generated when the fault criteria are fulfilled.
If the fault criteria are fulfilled during the next driving cycle also, the CHECK ENGINE lamp will come on. If not, the diagnostic trouble code will be cleared.
Three consecutive driving cycles without the fault recurring are required for the CHECK ENGINE lamp to go out by itself.
For the diagnostic trouble code to be cleared, 40 warm-up cycles are required in addition.
