Number plate lighting not functioning

Saab 9-5 M98 up to and including chassis number W3051800.
The material in the lamp holder for the number plate lighting has been of inferior quality on cars manufactured early on.
In some cases, the material quality cannot tolerate the heat from the bulbs, with subsequent deformation of the lamp holder which results in the lights not functioning.
Rectified in production from chassis number W30511801.
When replacing the bulb, also replace the lamp holder

Remove the panel for the number plate lighting by removing the four screws, and then bring the panel down and to the right.

Remove the rubber covers and the terminals from both lamps.
|
3.
|
Remove the two lamp holders

4.
|
Fit the new lamp holders
(B)
.
|
5.
|
Fit the terminals and the rubber covers.
|
6.
|
Refit the panel for the number plate lighting by fitting it from the right and then upward. Tighten the four screws.
