Interior lighting
Interior lighting |
The car's interior lighting is switched on and off automatically or manually depending on the setting of the selector switch (1-0-2). The selector has the following functions:
1 - Interior lighting on.
0 - Automatic switching
2 - Interior lighting off.
Manual (position 1 or 2)
For the interior lighting, +30 voltage is supplied via fuse 20 to control module pin 46. Pin 23 on the control module is connected to the light switch (53)• |
If the selector is set to 1, all the interior lighting is powered via the light switch (53) from pin 16.
|
• |
If the switch is in position 2, no power is supplied to the interior lighting.
|
Automatic (position 0)
If the selector is set to 0, +30 voltage for the interior lighting is fed to DICE, pin 24. DICE receives information via the bus on the status of the doors (OPEN/CLOSED; LOCKED/UNLOCKED) and the ignition switch (OFF/ON/ST). When DICE detects this information the control module switches the interior lighting on or off accordingly.Voltage +30 is fed or not fed from pin 16 on the selector switch (53) and pin 23 and pin 70 on DICE to the lamps (50F and 50C) of the interior lighting.
DICE monitors the interior-lighting circuit internally. The control module does this by measuring current and voltage across a resistor located in the control module on pin 23. If the voltage/current ratio undergoes a change, DICE responds. In the case of high load, the control module shuts off the output.
Important | ||
All lamp outputs are protected by short-circuiting. |
||
Do not change to lamps of a higher wattage, since the outputs are not made to withstand a permanent overload. |
||
If the wattage goes unduly high the short-circuit protection will immediately trip. |
||
Automatic (position 0) |
With the interior-lighting selector set to 0, the lighting is always switched on or off in the form of a fade-out or fade-in. The operation is linear and takes two seconds.
When the selector is set to 0 for automatic operation the interior lighting works as follows:
1. |
If the driver's door is unlocked, by key or remote control. The interior lighting remains on for 30 seconds if the ignition switch is set to LOCK and the key is taken out.
|
2. |
If one or more doors is/are open when the ignition switch is set to LOCK, the interior lighting remains on for 20 minutes, after which it is switched off automatically.
|
3. |
If one or more doors is/are opened when the ignition switch is set to ON (+15 and+54), the interior lighting will be on until all doors have been closed.
|
4. |
If all doors are closed, the interior lighting remains on for 30 seconds if it was already on before the doors were closed (position 0 or 1). Otherwise, the interior lighting will remain off.
|
5. |
If the ignition switch is turned to ON (+15 and +54) while the interior lighting is on, the lights will at once be switched off. The same applies if the car is locked by remote control or with the key.
|
6. |
When the car key is removed from the ignition the interior lighting will go on for 30 seconds. The light will fade in (brightness increases) during the first 2 seconds.
|
Diagnosis |
The output is provided with overload protection which shuts it off in the event of an excessive load. When this occurs, diagnostic trouble code B1215 will be generated.
DTCs are not generated if the voltage is below 11 V, or during diagnostic communication, or in case of interruption.
Note | ||
Should a fault occur in the interior lighting, diagnostic trouble code B1220 may be generated (instead of the normal B1215), since the roof lighting (50F) is not electrically isolated from the reading and mirror lights. |
