Replacing the starter motor, V6 (US X < 30 20001)

1.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
|
2.
|
Remove the generator, see “Charging system - Adjustment and replacement - Generator, V6”,
.

3.
|
Disconnect the starter motor connections.
|
4.
|
Undo the upper starter motor retaining bolt. This is easier to do through the right-hand wheel housing using an extra long extension and torx 18.
|
5.
|
Undo the bottom starter motor retaining bolt.
|
6.
|
Lower the starter motor and lift it out.
|

|
Clean the starter motor mounting surfaces and electrical contacts, and apply them with Vaseline to prevent oxidization.
|
2.
|
Refit the starter motor.
|
3.
|
Reconnect the electric cables to the starter motor.
|
4.
|
Refit the generator, see “Charging system - Adjustment and replacement - Generator, V6”,

5.
|
Reconnect the negative battery cable.
